Tuscaloosa has some of the best places to celebrate sports, special occasions and just to have a fun night out with your besties! The Strip and Downtown Tuscaloosa are the hot spots for college students. There are many places near UA off-campus housing college students 21 and up and even underage to experience the T-Town nightlife. Here are soon of the most popular places that Bama students go to during the week and on the weekends to have the time of their lives.
Places You Can Go if You Are Under 21
Rounders Bar and Twelve25 are some of the few places that Bama students under 21 can get into. You must be 19 years old to get into these bars. Rounders and Twelve25 are both located on The Strip right next to each other. Rounders is known for their rooftop where they host live performances, and you can get a killer view of Bryant Denny Stadium. Rounders is also known for the "Boom Boom Room" where they play Vegas style music. Twelve25 is a sports bar and brings nightlife entertainment. They play different genres of music, but they play mostly popular Rap, R&B and Pop music. They serve food throughout the week and take dining dollars. For all my girls: on Saturdays, it's ladies' night! Girls get in for free before 11 at Twelve25. The line for Rounders and Twelve25 is always out the door, especially during football season. You can host parties, buy VIP sections and events at both bars.
If You Are 21, Here Are Some T-Town Favorite Bars
Located on The Strip, Galettes, home of the Yellow Hammer is another sports bar that has become a fan favorite. They are known for their Wine Wednesdays where students get in for free with their Act Card. They offer $5 wine bottles, deals on shots and if you buy a yellow hammer, you get to keep the signature cup. They have a front room, an outdoor area where you can sit down and socialize with friends for those who just want more of a chill vibe. For those who like to dance and want the club experience with the DJ, they have a backroom.
Not even a two block down from The Strip is the bar called Innisfree, the Irish pub. This bar is extremely popular amongst the sports lovers and social butterflies. They serve Irish food, play good music, and occasionally host live performances.
If you are looking for a place with a unique ambiance, Nocturnal Tavern is the place for you! Nocturnal is a cocktail bar that is perfect for date nights or a night out with your friends. They have unique cocktails and great bartenders that can mix up the prefect concoctions for you. They host different events like open mic nights, comedy shows and parties.
Want A Chill Night? Go to Bingo Nights
On Tuesdays, Bear Trap, located across from apartments near UA campus, is the place where you can eat, drink and host events. Many UA students love to go to their bingo nights on Thursdays where you can win prizes that range from a free Bear Trap T-shirt to electronics like AirPod Pros and TVs. If the weather is right, they will have the rooftop bar open with either a DJ or music playing from the speakers. Inside Bear Trap, they have pool tables and darts and an open floor by the stage for the dancers. Houndstooth, another sports bar on The Strip hosts bingo nights on Thursdays and has deals on beer and liquor pitchers.
