    University Boulevard | Tuscaloosa, AL

    University Boulevard

Cutting right through the heart of the University of Alabama campus, fittingly, is University Boulevard. Lined with towering oaks that the Druid City is named for, University spans the whole width of Tuscaloosa and contains many of the defining characteristics of the town. Central campus, The Strip, and the downtown lay on either side of the street and bring T-Town to life with rich tradition and countless activities. In addition, there are apartments on University Boulevard that bring students closer to everything Tuscaloosa has to offer.

    Apartments on University Boulevard

Beyond containing go-to spots on Friday night, University is home to many apartment complexes built with students in mind. Strictly speaking, these living communities are a block or two off the main drag and are really only apartments near University Boulevard. Nevertheless, residents have full access to the many restaurants, bars, and shops lining University Boulevard and populating the surrounding streets. University landmarks

Some of what University Boulevard is known best for is on Bama's campus. Though only about a mile from one end of campus to the other, it's chock full of notable features. Starting on the east end, the Capstone College of Nursing and its towering pillars rise above the surrounding landscape. Next up is Fraternity Row, featuring ornate mansions that are home to the members of several fraternities and the events that have made Greek life at Bama legendary. While passing through the tunnel formed by the canopies of ancient oaks, one side of University Boulevard hosts the president's mansion. The other features The Quad, a luscious green space full of Adirondack chairs available for students to bask in the southern sun. It's also home to Denny Chimes, named for the legendary football coach. A bit further on, past the turn to Sorority Row and the College of Communication & Information Science, is the Walk of Champions that leads up to Bryant-Denny Stadium. There's a lot to take in making the trek from one end of campus to the other, but each one helps to add to the character of Tuscaloosa.

    Traditions on University

It isn't only places along University Boulevard that bring it to life. It's what happens on it. Events sponsored by the university, and those that are not quite sponsored, are a key part of the Bama experience. On game days in the fall, tailgaters line both sides of University and every inch of The Quad in preparation for the home team to take the field. Later in the season, the homecoming parade has sororities taking to the streets with their fraternity of choice to exemplify school spirit. After winning national titles in football, the student body has also been known to flood University Boulevard and celebrate in the street.

It's clear that University is the epicenter of the culture in Tuscaloosa. Between Bama landmarks, the nightlife of The Strip, and the many traditions tied to football, there's always something to do or see in this part of town. Apartments near University Boulevard get the full extent of this action since it's all in their backyard. Whether you're in the market for a Tuscaloosa apartment or not, it's a great idea to get to know University Boulevard.
