Whether it's an evening out with friends, or a late-night study session at the apartment study rooms, a snack to finish off the night is always a necessity. When you are looking for something within walking distance of your UA apartment or you have that specific midnight craving, check out these fan favorites.

Taco BellTaco Bell on the Strip

As the most central place of UA aside from campus itself, the Strip is home to several staple restaurants, bars, and stores that cater to the desires of any student. The Taco Bell on the Strip is likely the most popular place to grab a snack. Bar-goers and Taco Bell lovers alike line up for the perfect burrito or taco to take home for the night. After opening on the strip in August of 2022, the small, digitally focused cantina became a hotspot for students. The service is quick and friendly, and the camaraderie from staff and students is unmatched. Taco Bell is opened until 2:00 A.M. most nights, making it perfect for that end-of-the-night treat.

Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies is also located on the Strip, which puts it at the heart of Tuscaloosa for UA students. It is opened until 3:00 A.M. and provides deliveries as well as in person service. When you are looking for a sweet treat, rather than a full meal, Insomnia has the best tasting cookies in town. They are served warm and fresh and are perfect for a chilly night of studying. Insomnia is within walking distance from a variety of off-campus UA housingoptions, as well as the Bruno Business Library and Gorgas Library- two popular study spots.

Cookout

While Cookout is not located within walking distance from campus, it is still one of the most popular late-night snacks in town and near many Alabama student apartments. Located down 15th Street, the drive thru and window ordering are open until 3:30 A.M. Almost every student on campus has been to Cookout at least once in their college career and have nothing but positive reviews. The menu offers everything from chicken quesadillas to bacon cheeseburgers, to hushpuppies, to milkshakes. Although it is a chain, Cookout resides in the southeast region of the country, so international and out-of-state students look forward to late picking up late-night snacks when they are back on campus.

Quick Grill

Another fan favorite of students across campus is Quick Grill. Located on the Strip, Quick Grill is central to students who are leaving events from the night or heading home from a late night of studying. Of the four, Quick Grill is the cheapest and quickest option. They serve hotdogs, hamburgers, and the most popular menu item: messy fries. The fries come loaded with several kids of cheese, beans, ranch, and other toppings that make them irresistible to all.
