The University of Alabama offers parking services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. For students living on and off campus in Tuscaloosa apartments, many students do not know about the parking resources and often have questions about where they can and cannot park on campus. Learn more about the parking services, parking decals and rates, GameDay parking and more.

Student Parking Permits

Parking Services offers students the opportunity to purchase a Residential, Commuter, Student Reserved, Perimeter, or an Accessible permit and will be issued according to zones and location. Students who live on campus are only allowed the option to purchase a permit for their residential zone. Residential permits are available in Yellow, Orange, Silver, and Tan. Commuter students may purchase a commuter, student reserve, or a perimeter permit based on availability when they register. Accessible permits will only be issued to students certified by the State of Alabama or by their state. Permits from other local colleges or universities are not valid during office hours. For faculty and staff, they receive green permits and go through a similar process when purchasing their permit. Not having a parking pass or permit will result in parking tickets or worse consequences like vehicle booting.

Limited Parking

Although campus is huge and there are several zones and parking lots to choose from, if you are living in Bama off campus housing, it can be challenging to find parking without a parking decal. Many students fill out the permit forms based off the price and location on campus. The downside of parking on campus is how limited parking is and some permits are expensive if you desire to park at specific buildings like Reese Phifer Hall. If you do not purchase a permit for these buildings at a reasonable time, permits will be unavailable. Ideally students would want to park near their academic buildings or popular locations like the Student Center. However, many students purchase a parking permit to park near the Coleman Coliseum and must take a shuttle to get to class. The closer you are to the primary areas on campus the more expensive a parking permit can be.

For students or visitors who do not have a parking permit or pass, there are designated areas where they can park and pay for a certain amount of time. A popular app that most students have is ParkMobile App. On ParkMobile students can park in any student zone or red zone on campus. A lot of students only know about student parking at the Student Center Deck and Lot but are not aware of the other red zone parking lots. Park Mobile provides a campus map on the app that shows the different areas where students can park

Gameday Parking

During football season, the University will block off specific roads and parking lots near the stadium. Those wanting to park on campus will have to buy a Gameday parking pass or pay an additional parking fee. Gameday parking can be chaotic especially if you do not have a parking pass or permit. If you do not have a parking permit or live on campus, you will have to pay to park near buildings like the Student Center. UA offers public parking in areas like the Soccer Lot and provides shuttles that will take visitors to The Quad. Local businesses off University Blvd and Paul W Bryant Drive will charge people around $20-60 dollars to park. If you do not mind parking and walking about a mile or two to the stadium, there is free gameday parking is also available in the Downtown Intermodal Facility parking deck.
